Kelley Girl Charters, a Panama City Beach-based fishing charter company, announces the continuation of red snapper fishing expeditions through October 2026, following the federal recreational season guidelines established for the Gulf of Mexico. The company offers private bottom fishing charters on vessels equipped to accommodate large groups seeking to target this prized species during the extended red snapper fishing season.
The 2026 red snapper season represents an important opportunity for recreational anglers to pursue one of the Gulf's most sought-after fish species. Kelley Girl snapper fishing trips depart from Panama City Beach and venture into productive waters where red snapper populations thrive. The company's experienced captains navigate to established fishing grounds known for consistent red snapper catches, utilizing their extensive knowledge of local waters and seasonal patterns.
"The extended season through October gives our clients more opportunities to experience world-class red snapper fishing in the Gulf," said Mark Kelley, owner of Kelley Girl Charters. "Our larger vessels and experienced crew allow us to take groups of various sizes out to the deeper waters where these fish congregate, ensuring everyone on board has the chance to land their catch."
Red snapper fishing requires specific techniques and equipment, which Kelley Girl Charters provides as part of their comprehensive charter packages. The company supplies all necessary fishing gear, licenses, and safety equipment for their excursions. Their vessels feature bathrooms and air conditioning, exceeding U.S. Coast Guard regulations for passenger comfort and safety during extended trips offshore.
The National Marine Fisheries Service regulates red snapper harvesting in federal waters, with NOAA establishing seasonal dates and bag limits to maintain sustainable fish populations. These regulations ensure the long-term viability of the red snapper fishery while providing recreational fishing opportunities for charter operators and their clients. Kelley Girl Charters maintains strict adherence to all federal fishing regulations and educates clients about size and bag limits during each trip.
Bottom fishing for red snapper involves anchoring over structure or reefs where these fish typically inhabit depths ranging from 60 to 200 feet. The company offers various trip durations, including 4-hour, 6-hour, 8-hour, and extended 10- to 12-hour expeditions, allowing anglers to choose experiences that match their schedules and fishing goals. Longer trips provide access to deeper waters and less pressured fishing spots, often resulting in larger catches and a greater variety of species.
"We've structured our fishing charter offerings to accommodate both novice anglers looking for their first red snapper and experienced fishermen seeking trophy catches," added Kelley. "The extended red snapper fishing season gives families and groups more flexibility to plan their charter fishing adventures around their vacation schedules."
Kelley Girl Charters operates as a family-owned business in Panama City Beach, Florida, specializing in Gulf of Mexico fishing expeditions. The company maintains a fleet of charter vessels and offers various fishing experiences, including deep-sea fishing, shark fishing, and trolling trips. Their services extend beyond traditional fishing charters to include unique offerings such as cremation ceremonies at sea.
